6 Go-To Engagement Photography Locations in Colorado (Front Range)
If you don’t wanna think too much about where you would like to do your engagement photos, I always have some easy go-to locations that are sure to please.
All of these locations have easy access and little to no hiking. We are fortunate enough to live in such a beautiful state that offers a ton of visual variety, with minimal effort.
So I have made this short list of my favorite engagement photo locations that are close to Denver and Colorado Springs.
Manitou
Manitou Springs is a unique small town, nestled into the mountains, just 10 minutes west of Colorado Springs. It is full of art, historic architecture, and free spirited people.
Some of the claims to fame for this small town are the natural mineral springs (with fountains around the town), the base of The Incline (climb at your own risk haha), and it happens to be the closest spot to find recreational weed from Colorado Springs lmao.
The best places to take photos in Manitou are at the Penny Arcade, amongst the historical buildings, sharing an ice cream on the old stone staircase, and frolicking on one of the many bridges throughout.
Mount Falcon
Winter or summer, Mount Falcon does not disappoint. With a 30 min or less drive from Denver, this little mountain top is sure to impress.
The path from the parking lot is easy to access, and though the spots here are slightly more spread out, the amount of walking would still be minimal.
This location has stunning mountain views, pretty meadows, and some really impressive rock formations that look out over the whole world!
Denver
I would say that about 80% of my couples end up doing their engagement photos in the mountains… and why not?? We have more awe inspiring nature here in Colorado than other state could even dream! (Sorry Kansas… haha) But, if you really want to stand out and do something unique, staying in the city might be just the remedy!
The possibilities are truly endless… there are restaurants, bars, parks, murals, fabulous architecture with modern, moody, and romantic lighting, bridges, record stores, coffee shops, museums, union station, book stores… you name it, the list goes on!
Here is just a small sample of what kind of magic we can make in on of my favorite cities around.
Boulder
Located 30 minutes Northwest of Denver, Boulder is yet another gem for majestic natural scenery.
Whether you wanna shoot from the grassy plains into the mountains from one of their many designated park spaces, or find an overlook where all you can see is mountains for miles, Boulder is the place to be.
Garden of the Gods
Garden of the Gods is a great spot for engagement photos because it is jam packed with visual interest, in a park that is not too overwhelming in size. Giant red rock formations nestled against the mountains. The park is located in Colorado Springs, West of I-25.
One thing to note about this park is its extreme popularity, so I am always advising couples to make their date during the week to avoid crowds. Most of the park is a one way street as well, so I like to make a plan of all your desired stops before the day of.
Some of my favorite places in the park are the Three Graces, the stairs above them, and High Point Overlook.
In Home + AirBnb
I know this probably sounds like a curveball, but in home sessions are the perfect way to have these sweet and intimate moments without an audience or the added pressure of being at the mercy of the weather.
It is an introverts dream! Or for couples who like the idea of a more laid back/sexy/story teller vibe, etc. Kitchens, living room couches, window light, beds, gardens, fire pits, hot tubs, and maybe even pools… you have so many options!
If you don’t think your house is the right look, you can literally get online and find exactly what your heart desires! A cozy a frame, a perfectly curated apartment in the city, or even a killer house with modern everything.
